On the 1st of October, the Traffic Police Department deployed officers to the streets to ensure traffic order and safety for students in Hanoi. Units of traffic police intensified inspections and addressed violations involving traffic order, specifically targeting middle and high school students who either did not follow traffic rules or acted against them. Colonel Nghia, head of the Traffic Police Department, pointed out that over the past few years, violating traffic laws has become “normalized,” resulting in hundreds of tragic accidents. He emphasized that it is time to take action.
According to statistics, just five days into the deployment, police handled a total of 785 cases where laws were broken, issuing fines totaling 400 million VND. The main violations were either failing to use protective gear or students driving vehicles they were not legally eligible to operate. To prevent further violations, the Traffic Department has coordinated with local police and schools to organize extracurricular lessons, raising traffic awareness for more than 23,000 students and teachers in the city.
Additionally, checkpoints will be set up in various locations, including alleys, narrow roads, and corners, to catch individuals trying to evade detection. According to the department, inspections will be carried out thoroughly and continuously, with the goal of creating positive changes in traffic law awareness and compliance. In cases where students violate traffic laws, notices will be sent to their schools for appropriate educational measures. This initiative serves as a wake-up call not only to Nguyen Hue students but to every student in Hanoi. Therefore, students are urged to follow the law when using any type of vehicle, ensuring safety for themselves and others.
